Using rings like you have also allows you to easily add other discoveries or sightings of birds, and turtles! Very neat idea!

I, too, am a nature dork. We have shelves of guidebooks. My son reads them for fun. A large bag comes along on any trip we go on. My reading lately has been geeky/nerdy, too. It makes me happy.

That’s a great idea for a fun, easy book to make for a little one. I’ve thought about having my son make a book of the plants he has put in his garden, but haven’t gotten around to it. I think my daughter would like this idea, too.

It might be a good idea to have a field guide for shells ready for your trip to the beach this summer!

Nature dork here! When my oldest was first getting into his ABCs, we created a nature ABC book. Took pictures of things around the neighborhood, then put them in a small photo book. HUGE hit! He practiced writing his letters right in the book! Which reminds me … my 4 year old is ready for his own!
